I have a secret adiction - I just love carboot sales. I went to my first one of the year on Sunday 6th May at Hartford High School, Hartford, Cheshire. I enjoy attending carboots for several reasons, one of which is it gets me up and out of bed early on a Sunday, the second is that it provides me with some exercise, but most of all, I JUST LOVE A BARGAIN. This week, I spent the grand total of £5.30 and came away with the following treasures! 1 - A moneybox in the shape of a giraffe costing 50 pence - just had to have it as it was so cute - it is now living in my conservatory. 2 - Three sherry glasses from the Ravenhead Siesta range for 10 pence each - we had a set of tumblers from this range as a wedding gift from my cousins Jacky and Phil Hitchin, these are long gone but for some reason, I have got it in me to collect items from this range. I managed to pick up a set of six shot size tumblers from a charity shop only the other day for £1.00 and from a carboot last year, a brand-new still in the box set of six beer glasses - these too were £1.00 - bargain! 3 - A brand new Thermometer Hygrometer Wireless Weather Forecast Station (originally from Marks & Spencer) - I gave this to my husband who, for some reason, loves weather predictions! He said he could understand why someone would sell this item as it was quite complicated to setup but he perservered and it now sits proudly on the windowsill in the conservatory - that was £1.00 well spent as it will let me know whether (excuse the pun) or not I will plan to go to the carboot - don't usually venture out if it is raining! 4 - When Claire who lives at number 3 in my street used to sell Avon, I would religiously buy something from her from each campaign brochure. Fortunately, she has now given it up but unfortunately, I can no longer buy Stephen his aftershave balm so when I spied a brand new bottle of Nivia for Men Aftershave Balm for £1.00, I snapped it up without hesitation - especially as the stallholder was the lady from our local greengrocers - I like to support local shops for local people! 5 - I managed to pick up a copy of Wii Fit programme. This was one of my more expensive purchases - all of £2.50! Although I still consider that a bargain as another stallholder wanted £3.50 for their copy! Looking out now for a balance board so that I can use the disc. Did not manage to find anything to add to my collection of small crystal objects or any nice paperweights - maybe next time. The next carboot I plan to visit is on Sunday 13th May at the local High School in Weaverham. Let you know what treasures I find next week.
